Designated driver
I'm going to get a little serious in this blog. I've been in a wheelchair now for 23 years Through those years I have met the most incredible people along the way. I'm in a wheelchair because of a bad choice I made in my life. I was drinking with a buddy of mine as we had done many times before. Our idea of a designated driver was the one who hadn't drank as much and felt he could get us home. Well we had both been drinking and I was blasted and my buddy had been drinking too but he wasn't as bad as me. He drove and took the car up to 100 miles an hour, we couldn't make a curve and flipped the car end over end. I became paralyzed and have been in a wheelchair ever since. The reason why I'm telling you this story is, I could be upset with my buddy and I could hold bad feelings against him but life is too short to hold something like that against someone. It possibly saved my life and that of someone else. What if it had been me driving and what if I would have killed someone else, these are the things i thought about. I was given a second chance at life and a chance to possibly change someone elses. The designated driver has nothing to drink or impair their senses. I know its hard to go to a party concert or game and not have a few but please make the decision before you go that if you are the designated driver that you will not drink and make sure that your buddies get home safe. It could save your life, your buddies life, and the lives of the family coming back from the movies or dinner. That one chance you have to make a difference could be the one that saves lives! I challenge you to make the right decision and designate a driver and make sure he promises not to drink. Its still ok to go out and have fun and enjoy life but do it responsibly. Arrive alive people!!

I am so glad to see that someone posts things like this. I hate to see people drink and drive. I hate being on the road and seeing that one car swirving in and out of their lane and either mine or the other one. it scares me the most when I have my child with me... the best thing to do is, if you are going to drink, drink at home. or call a cab. :-)
