Speaking is a roller coaster!!

Speaking can be such a roller coaster!!

When I'm speaking it is such a rush to share my message with the audience. To show hope, inspire and motivate people who sometimes have lost their direction. We all get stuck in ruts and sometimes we don't even realize it until something jolts us out of it! It could be a slap in the face or like a baseball bat to the head but whatever it is, it might just cause change. We all need a different perspective or another set of eyes to see that your heading down the wrong road.
Each time I get a call to be invited to come speak I get excited to share my message. And when I do get called it seems like there are calls just about every other day inquiring about my topics, my message, and availability. And then ........ nothing, no calls, no possible speaking events, not even a church group to share my message with. : - ) But I have learned not to take it personal as it comes in waves. I used to surf when I was younger and can remember waiting for what seemed like hours for the waves to pick up, and when they did, Kowabonga it was such a blast. Well I have taken my old surfing days to heart and realize speaking comes in waves and I just have to be patient and go with the flow. But I love the ride I have been on and love to hear the comments and meet the incredible people I have met along the way. It's been fun and I would like to do it as much as I can, which is hard with a full time job. I can't make calls while I'm at work and could really use an booking agent of publicist so if you know of anyone, let me know!! : - ) But I have really enjoyed speaking and find it's becoming easier each time I do it, not sure where it will take me but I'm enjoying the ride while it lasts! If you know of a group that would like to hear my story or invite me to speak give me a call or email me and lets see what we can arrange!!
On the bowling side this week I once again got beat by the Grantman!! The man is relentless! I had games of 110 132 115 for a 357 set to his 145 145 113 for a 403 set! So bragging rights go to the Grantman again this week!!
Bobsled update. We have completed this season and I'm planning on racing again next year with the Park City Adaptive Bobsled Team. Will be working out a lot more this summer with handcycling and lifting weights, so we'll see where that takes me as well!
Sorry I haven't been blogging that much, I have a lot on my plate, but will try my best to be better!! Thanks for reading my blog!!

Nightmare in Sochi already for Paralympian?? :-)

Help I'm stuck and can't get out!!

:-) Well sports fans it has happened again! When the Olympian Johnny Quinn got stuck in the locked bathroom we thought the bathroom nightmare had ended!! Well we were oh so wrong! Yes the terror has happened again, this time to Paralympian Steve Cash, who was once again faced with the possibility of solitary confinement in a bathroom!! :-) I know its funny now but if you have ever been faced with a door that malfunctions at the wrong time and you have no other way out but to scream for help and face the bitter truth that you were stuck in a bathroom, you would know what I mean!! Johnny Quinn took matters into his own hands and demolished the bathroom he was in, but our hero and hopefully gold medalist Steve Cash held it together and waited for the rescue of fellow Paralympians!! Well Steve will have a story to tell regardless of the games as he has already had a flood of emotions! You can see the whole story here at MsnFoxsports http://msn.foxsports.com/olympics/story/more-sochi-problems-now-a-paralympian-gets-stuck-in-bathroom-030614 It was a very good story and brought a smile to my face as the pictures show the exciting escape.
Well if you didn't know the Paralympics opening ceremony is tomorrow and our Paralympians are ready to do their best to bring home the GOLD!!! I ask you all to bow your heads as I say this prayer, "Dear lord please grant the Paralympians from all the other countries the grace, humility and understanding of the royal butt kicking they are about to receive courtesy of the USA!!" No just kidding I wish nothing but the best for all the Paralympians from all over the world that are there to represent their country and show the world that they are athletes in every right. May they have the best effort they can perform and may the best man or woman compete to the best of their capabilities. I hope that they have compassion for each other and become long lasting friends and realize we are all the same but with different disabilities. Lets celebrate their abilities and support them all as they compete!!
This week in bowling I finally can report that I beat the Grantman as he had games of 150, 126, 106 for a 382 to my 106, 147, 166 for a 419!! Yay I finally have bragging rights again!! Well that's all for this week should have a Blog this weekend of the presentation I did at Lehi Jr high School, hopefully if the pictures are sent to me! Take care gang!!

Wheelchair bowling had some tough weeks!

What the heck is going on????

Well as most of you know I have had an ongoing competition with my buddy Grant Beuhler aka "The Grantman". Usually I'm pretty competitive with him and give him a run for his money each week, but the Grantman has been in the zone here lately!! Grant has been bowling good and even bowled a 230 something game a few weeks back! Me on the other hand its hit and miss pardon the pun but whenever it seems I get something going I suffer from a brain fart and completely forget what the heck I'm doing!! :-) And you don't have to tell me I know what it is, PRACTICE,PRACTICE,PRACTICE which I have not been doing! In anything you do it takes practice, commitment, and dedication, all of which I have not put into my game! Call it laziness, getting old, non-focus, or just lack of motivation, whatever it is I have not been into my game. Whenever I ran into this when I was on the tour I would throw myself into practice, sign up for tournaments, and bowl any pot game I could get into. So I'm not sure what's going on people maybe I'm just a little burnt out on bowling and ready for the summer break. I plan to do a lot of handcycling this summer and get my upper body back into shape and maybe even get back into the weight room and yes even practice! So my goal is to increase my ball speed for the next year and plan to be ready to bowl in the Las Vegas open wheelchair bowling tournament in December and maybe even the ABC or Wheelchair Nationals next year. That is if the Grantman will have me as a doubles partner! Either way that's my goal! This week in competition the Grantman shot games of 149 145 146 for a 440 set and I shot 121 147 160 for a 428. Close but no cigar said the carnival worker!! So the Grantman has bragging rights once again this week!
