Goals

Goals we all make them, some achievable some not, but the fact of the matter is, we all need them. I have been in the wheelchair now for 23 years and people always ask me if I ever think I'll ever be able to walk again. So I tell them there is not a day that goes by that I don't look at my toes and say move, and concentrate to make it happen. And everyday for 23 years they have not moved. Do I quit or get depressed, no!!! I just look at my toes and say "I'll try again tomorrow!" You see in my mind I feel if your not sending messages down to move your toes to move then why should they? So here's some things I try to do when setting goals:
  1. Try to make achievable goals
  2. Have something you can work towards
  3. Don't ever let that voice in your head say you can't do it
  4. Seek assistance to help you reach that goal
  5. And finally just do it, make that commitment!
Now is it an achievable goal? Maybe, maybe not. But if you don't try then how will you ever be sure you did everything to make it happen. You should apply that thought to everything you do. Successes usually only happen when there have been numerous failures. So in closing I'll say this, try is a three letter word and a much better one that comes to mind than the four letter one you say when you let an opportunity, adventure, or experience go by!! So set those goals, and dream those dreams, and make them happen! Here are some of my goals this year:
  1. Be a better husband, Vickie deserves so much better than me! :-)
  2. Bowl that elusive 200 game
  3. Finish my new book
  4. Speak at more conferences and events
  5. Get in to better shape
