The what if game???

Ahh..... the what if game??? What is it you ask? Well let me tell you.......  The what if game is a game I play every now and then where I think of different scenarios and what I would do if certain things were to happen. I have found it to be really helpful as some of the scenarios actually came true, and I had played them over in my mind as to what i would do if it were to happen. Let me give you an example, Lets say I was traveling by myself and had to change planes and only had a 30 minute layover. As most of you who travel and are wheelchair users know, that is hardly enough time to get transferred into the isle chair after everyone has gotten off the plane and get in your chair and book it down to your next flight! Well playing the scenario out in your head might help the situation, cause you at least might have a plan. First of all don't ever let yourself get caught with a 30 minute layover! If you really want to be realistic, plan at least an hour to two hour layover that way you have time to get a something to eat, use the bathroom, and not be rushed and have to miss a flight, cause I got to tell you its better to be really early than to be late and have no other flights out until the next day!!!! A couple of things I thought about were, have the flight attendant call ahead to the next flight and let them know you are on your way, get assistance to get you to the next gate, they usually have radios and can delay the flight a bit to get you on. Get all your stuff down first from the overhead cabin by the flight attendant, that way your ready as soon as your chair is brought up. Why not just use the airport chair they have there and just leave your chair to be transferred to the next flight? What if the next plane is cancelled or you do miss the next flight, then you are stuck in an airport hospital type chair that probably has a bad wheel and smells like the last guy that was in it!! But the "What if game" can work in all instances like transfers, what would you do if you fell out of your chair transferring? Play it out in your head and at least have a plan. Or what if you drop a glass in the kitchen and you don't have flat free inserts in your tires? Things happen people, its just  the way life goes, but if you don't have a game plan you might be in a tough situation! So I say play the "what if game" even if you are not disabled or if you have a loved one who is disabled, it just might save your life or theirs by thinking a little bit ahead of what might happen.
